What is more vital to the employees is not only taking care of their operational issues but also they require a strong support in terms of keeping themselves hale and hearty. An individual’s health and the growth of an organization are connected and an understanding of these interrelationships has been realized by OSSCube.
In an effort to promote well-being of its employees, OSSCube recently scheduled a wellness program at its Noida office which was presented by Mr. Deepak Mendiratta. Mendiratta is Entrepreneur & Chief Driver, Health & Insurance Integrated (HII).
He enlightened the attendees with deadly but true facts about various diseases that might create very nasty effects on our health. He explained what are the various health related issues which we should not ignore at any given time.
He incites how healthy employees tend to experience a better quality of life and higher personal productivity, and those who discover health issues early tend to get well faster and spend less on medical care.
Purposing a healthcare pointing system, he detailed how can we keep an eye on our well being and achieve healthy body by getting exciting rewards. The whole idea behind this healthcare pointing system is you earn points daily for specific behaviors (like eating healthy), and earn points weekly for losing or maintaining weight. If you have earned enough points, you can redeem these points for your reward.
So, imagine how many benefits you would get over a longer period of time if you keep yourself healthy and fit— healthy lifestyle with balance, mindfulness and wellness and reduced healthcare costs. It all adds up to you and your health only!!
A friend of ours was walking down a deserted Mexican beach at sunset. As he walked along, he began to see another man in the distance. As he grew nearer, he noticed that the local native kept leaning down, picking something up and throwing it out into the water. Time and again he kept hurling things out into the ocean.
As our friend approached even closer, he noticed that the man was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and, one at a time, he was throwing them back into the water.
Our friend was puzzled. He approached the man and said, "Good evening, friend. I was wondering what you are doing."
"I'm throwing these starfish back into the ocean. You see, it is low tide right now and all these starfish have been washed up onto the shore. If I don't throw them back into the sea, they'll die up here from lack of oxygen."
"I understand," my friend replied, "but there must be thousands of starfish on this beach. You can't possibly get to all of them. There are simply too many. And don't you realize this is probably happening on hundreds of beaches all up and down this coast. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"
The local native smiled, bent down and picked up yet another starfish, and as he threw it back into the sea, he replied, "Made a difference to that one!"

The client is the leading provider of Web sites, consulting, custom solutions and e-business services for the credit unions in the USA with solid expertise across various channels and mediums including print, Web, mass media, digital, data, programming and more. The company is SAS 70 certified and credit union-owned company that has been serving hundreds of credit unions and credit union organizations nationwide, and their technology needs. The client aims to better serve its customers’ comprehensive technology and marketing needs all in one place.
The Requirement
Multiple Subsidiaries and companies that the client acquired over a period of time were using their own independent systems to manage sales, marketing and customer support processes. With a number of independent “silo” subsystems in place, the client faced an enterprise-wide redundancy of information and lacked business intelligence visibility.
The client was in search of an integrated and comprehensive enterprise-wide MIS that could be configured to fit its business process and effectively handle many stakeholder requirements. Multiple systems and subsystems from various companies required consolidation to provide a 360 degree, holistic view of the business:
Integrated workflows, escalations and notifications
Robust Business Intelligence and Reporting
The Solution
SugarCRM Professional was chosen over many other CRM / collaboration solutions to be the central repository of all information systems in the company. OSSCube performed extensive consulting, process re-engineering and mapped various processes & workflows with SugarCRM’s capabilities.
OSSCube consolidated various internal applications, including Sprint, IMIS and TAFT on a single SugarCRM platform. There were more than 25 customized modules of each application containing massive data inconsistencies (millions of notes, thousands of contacts and hundreds of products). The customizations were extensive and included the additional new modules to add new fields for client's specific data sets which include:
Reporting — Many modules were customized to report on accounts, contacts, users, emails, notes, tasks, calls, and products.
Change log — Developed a change management and record keeping system to maintain a repository of current and past records for various stakeholders.
Project Management — Developed custom features (Automated Product Renewal, Change log, etc.) and well-defined processes covering many aspects of project management such as Sales, Marketing, Workflows, BI & Reports. New modules such as Job, Assignments, Time Sheet, Cost Estimation and Time Estimation, that were specific to the client’s requirements, were also developed.
Case Management — Developed support system to create tasks, client interaction tracking systems (meeting, calls for a specific case), integration of account with specific case, advisory relationship management, weekly time matrix and Bug Tracking system.
Product Management — Built module for pricing, product catalogues, sales volume, and renewable status (automatic renewal feature).
Centralized Migration — Mass data migration from other CRMs like Infowit and three applications - Sprint, IMIS and TAFT, to SugarCRM Professional. Data included millions of notes, thousands of contacts, and hundreds of products of each application system.
Aggregation of different subsystems within SugarCRM — Customizing, Importing, and Optimising all enterprise data within one system.
OSSCube developed above features to help the client easily share critical information and support existing and new business processes. With a centralized reporting system, reduced manual work and more efficient communication, the end solution now streamlines their business and better serves their stakeholders, vendors and members.

Winter is at its peak! Just imagine how hard it is for the people who stay outside in this shivering cold. So, in a bid to help people who are forced to remain outside at night, OSSCube distributed blankets in bulk among many homeless children and adults at different places here in the Delhi- NCR region at midnight last week.
OSSCube and its team members contributed for this noble ‘Blanket Donation’ drive and we procured a good number of blankets to help keep these poor souls warm.
This donation drive gave Team OSSCube a great sense of feeling, as there could not be a better way than this to start a new year, i.e., helping those homeless person or entire family with small children to provide them some warmth.
Being a responsible part of the society, we will keep expanding our wings to nurture support for these humble efforts in the future as well.

“The Future is Open Source”, as predicted many times on the Internet, now looks promising as the US government’s affair with Open Source continues to grow. In most recent developments, the US government has begun to open source pieces of data.gov. This is an important milestone not only for the Obama Administration to advance open and transparent government, but also for the open source community.
The open source version [of Data.gov] is being collaboratively developed by the US and Indian governments and its planned to launch the complete open-source code — called Open Government Platform — as early as 2012. As detailed in the report, this will enable governments across the world to create their own open government data sites.
Federal CIO Steven VanRoekel and Federal CTO Aneesh Chopra wrote the following in their jointly penned blog:
“The plan specifically called for an effort under the U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue to produce “Data.gov-in-a-Box” -- an open source version of the United States’ Data.gov data portal and India’s India.gov.in document portal. The U.S. and India are working together to produce an open source version available for implementation by countries globally, encouraging governments around the word to stand up open data sites that promote transparency, improve citizen engagement, and engage application developers in continuously improving these efforts. Technical teams from the U.S. and Indian governments have been working together since August of this year, with a planned launch of the open source product (which is now called the Open Government Platform (OGPL) to reflect its broad scope) in early 2012.”
It also brings good news to Drupal lovers, as Drupal has made inroads into government IT. This open source CMS has been chosen to build the Open Government platform which is a good choice to further strengthen the open source content management system.
Without a doubt, Open Source has already exploded on the enterprise level. The US government and national governments across Europe are also developing a public sector love affair with open source. But what does this initiative really mean for the world of open source?
This also represents a positive challenge for the community as the products/solutions maturity, scalability and security are likely to come under scrutiny like never before. Auditing eyes of analysts and information security experts will also find more face-time now with Open Source solutions.
Hopefully, we can expect to further validate open source in open government and continue to brighten the future for Open Source Innovators and the community.
